Procedures regarding the approval of an active substance (new / existing)

Modified on Mon, 8 Dec at 10:56 PM

A biocide can only appear on the market when the active substance in it dispose of an approval.

With regard to the existing active substances, there are also procedures elaborated concerning the alteration or addition of a participant to the review programme through mutual agreement, concerning the withdrawal as a participant and on the acquisition of a participant. Moreover, there is a possibility to add substance / PT combinations to the review programme (under certain conditions).

On ECHA's website, there is a list of recent notifications from participants concerning these procedures.

In addition, there is the procedure for inclusion or amendment of an active substance in Annex I of the BPR.

On the ECHA website you will find supporting documents for the various application types. Unless otherwise stated, these can be charged in R4BP 3.

For more information, please contact the ECHA helpdesk.

This information can also be found at www.biocide.be under the 'Regulations and procedures'  and ' Approval of active substances' heading.
